Youngstown – Evan James Benedict, 68, of Youngstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
Evan was born on September 12, 1957, in Youngstown, a son of James J. and Beatrice Mae (Bierman) Benedict. He was a lifelong resident of the area and took pride in the community he called home.
He was employed as an upholsterer, dedicating many years to his craft working on car seats and furniture. Evan was known for his skilled hands and strong work ethic.
Throughout his life, Evan had many passions. He especially enjoyed collecting antique phonograph and old record albums, finding joy in preserving pieces of the past and the stories they carried.
Evan was married for many years to the former Linda Malcomb, who preceded him in death on March 28, 2020.
He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Beatrice Renee (Martin) McMahon; six grandchildren; his siblings, Dale (Kaye) Bletso, Pamela Renee Weaver, Colleen May (Bill) Dodson, and Denise Gail Congemi; his special friend, Jeanine Bonilla; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Evan was preceded in death by his sister, Maudine Baysinger.
In keeping with Evan’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services at this time.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of the Rossi and Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman.
Evan’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Elaine Strong and Jeanine Bonilla for the care and compassion shown to him during his illness.
